A final word on Food…

The thing about 40C weather is that your eating is dictated by the heat of the day-and the number of margaritas consumed! We often found ourselves eating a bit of fruit in the morning and then just nibbling here and there throughout the day. We liked the patio and corn chips at Maracas and found loads of quaint little cafes that served great cold soups and antipasto. If you are hungry for nibbles jump into any cafe and savour the appetizer menu! For your bigger meals go later at night and enjoy the interesting characters you see out and about! Kaizer is a fave of the locals and served up a fantastic salad and the biggest burger I have seen! Thai House was fantastic! Traditional, home cooked menu and packed- so you may have to wait. Hamburger Mary’s served an awesome breakfast- and a killer milkshake!
Definitely one of our more adventurous eating opportunities was the street fair on Thursday night. Every Thursday the strip in downtown Palm Springs is closed to traffic and it is a full on street fair with loads and loads of food. I am a huge date fan and Palm Springs is the heart of date country- I ate the freshest biggest dates I have seen in my life! We got baskets of fresh sweet strawberries, tasted fresh almonds and cashews and nibbled our way through every vendor on the street! Beyond food, there were musicians, artists and street performers and feeling of pure Fun! So eat, walk and enjoy!
