A night in Newport

After a long day of hiking and playing along the coast we ended up in Newport as the weather started to turn very dirty indeed. With howling winds and driving rains we got ourselves a bottle of wine and yummy snacks and found a hotel with a spectacular ocean view. We stayed at a place called Driftwood Village Motel- it is old and nearly falling down the hill into the ocean, with a gas fireplace and big window looking out over the ocean. By far the most money we spent on hotels- on our whole journey- and well worth every penny for that view and fireplace! We cuddled up to the fake crackling fire, poured a glass of wine and watched darkness move in and overtake the ocean. We could hear the crashing surf and it lulled us into one of the best sleeps we had!! We woke up in the morning to the angry brutal ocean smacking itself into the coast line- wow!! What a wonderful night!
